Other dance marathons, other schools

Some DM trivia as the fourth block picks up steam:

NU's Dance Marathon, at 33 years old, is one of the country's oldest. But there are plenty of other universities who have their students dance (or stand) for hours for a cause.

The University of Iowa Dance Marathon raised just over $1 million with more than 1,500 dancers in January.

The University of Michigan holds its version of DM next weekend. As at NU, dancers take the floor for 30 hours.

At UCLA, dancers dance for 26 hours to support children with AIDS, raising more than $350,000 this year.

Many other schools participate in the Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon program. A full list is here.

And the Penn State dance marathon, the originator of them all (it's two years older than NU's) is known as 'Thon and raised $6.6 million for pediatric cancer this year.
