Dancers Taught Common Dance
Members of the Dancer Relations committee are teaching dancers the "30-hour dance," which all participants will perform together later tonight.
"Every block during DM, we teach a few moves so by the end (the dancers) all know a dance," said sophomore Josie Chai, who has been showing dancers the moves. "It's a dance everyone will know that's not the macarena."
As four members of the committee showed off the moves at about 1:00 p.m., some dancers weren't very into it.
"I think people are tired and they're cranky at learning a new dance," said junior Jennie Santeler, a member of the Special Events committee.
Santeler said when it's time to do the dance, the dancers will be more excited.
But when that time comes, the dancers will also be very tired and may have some trouble keeping up with the fast-paced dance. Some said they were already having trouble.
"It's tough," said junior Kellie Fry, who added that probably about half of the participants will learn the dance. "I'm a horrible dancer and I can't remember all the moves, so I end up bumping into a lot of people."
Still, the dance will bring all the DM participants together, Fry said.
"It's kind of fun," she said. "It's a unifying thing."
