Food Committee

The food committee is busy slapping peanut butter onto crunchy celery sticks. The group will be providing snacks to the dancers every hour until breakfast Saturday morning.

"We want to keep the dancers nourished and energized," said Medill senior Adam Miller, the committee chairman. "But we also want (the food) to be tasty."

Miller said the committee aims to feed 700 people - all the dancers and the various DM committee members - throughout the 30-hour event. Although he has been a part of the committee since sophomore year, Miller hasn't forgotten what it was like being a dancer during his freshman year.

"As a dancer, my favorite part was when the food came out," Miller said. "I was so bored at times that the only thing that would get me through was the food."

The food committee will be serving up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, granola bars and Jamba Juice smoothies over the course of the philanthropy, according to Miller. All the food was donated to DM as a result of a solicitation campaign by the 54-member committee.

"It's been a real honor to be a part of DM," Miller said. "It's been a most inspirational experience. Bear Necessities is such a great cause."
